8 Renamo guerillas abandon their party.

Eight former Renamo guerrillas in Manica and Sofala have abandoned the party and given themselves up to the Mozambican authorities.The former guerrillas, who say bear the rank of Major, captain, lieutenant and second lieutenant, appeal to old comrades still in the woods to follow their example and integrate themselves into (DEFENCE FORCES OF MOZAMBIQUE)FADM.They are in total eight former Renamo guerrillas who deserted the ranks of Afonso Dhlakama's party and deliverd themselves to the Mozambican authorities.The former Renamo members say they have been stationed on the orders of their leader in Ximpunga bases in Dombe,Manica province, Xindenga and Maringue in Sofala.The former Renamo guerrillas say they have made the decision to leave the ranks of this party for their are tired and also as a result of uncertainty about its future. According to the group's spokesman, there are many old friends who want to follow suit but who fear reprisals by Renamo. The former guerrillas call upon their old comrades to be courageous.
