In Dire straits:MOZAMBIQUE TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Data show that TDM (TELECOMMUNICATIONS OF MOZAMBIQUE)lost about four thousand mobile subscribers from 2007 to 2012, passing the previous 65,606 to 61,656 customers due to strong competition from mobile operators, which saw the number of customers grow exponentially and standing at over 10 million subscribers today. The company even came to retrieve the number of customers in 2011, but the Report and Accounts of 2012 shows that it returned to lose them soon after, unable to combat the aggressive competition from mobile operators. "The installed base recorded a decrease of network lines in 5200 units, primarily as a result of the reduction in carrier pre-paid and post-paid system. As a result of developed above developments, the total stock equivalents network lines decreased by 6%,settling at 61,656 lines in 2012 (2011: 66,916)",reads the TDM document.
