Telecommunications of Mozambique:a fossil in time.

In the last two weeks, the company Mozambique Telecommunications (TDM) was the target of a visit by the Prime Minister,Carlos Agostinho Rosario, and a restructuring as a result of the crisis in which the company is - which is,to put it roughly, an analog fossil in an increasingly digitized world ... In the 1990s, the company only took the view, along with the Management Institute of State Holdings (IGEPE), create Mcel, the first mobile operator of Mozambique, it was the future of voice communications. Being majority shareholder of Mcel (74%) and holding the monopoly, TDM apparently did not realize, even with the entry of Vodacom (in 2003), that it had to reinvent itself to remain competitive in the market. Not having staked an in vestment that could make the company essential to the market, the mobile phone company stopped in time and must be rescued by the Mozambican government."The TDM virtually stopped in time and hence is living this crisis. So in the coming days, a detailed analysis to determine on what exactly will be invested in the 500 million dollars it takes to revitalize TDM,",admitted to journalists, the Minister of Transportand Communications,Carlos Mesquita at the end of visit the Prime Minister made to that company.
