Blind and Visually impaired face social exclusion in Cabo Delgado

The Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Mozambique (ACAMO), in the province of Cabo Delgado, is concerned about what it claims to be a dearth of economic opportunities in the area for those with visual impairments.

Fátima Salia, the ACAMO provincial secretary in Cabo Delgado, gave this opinion regarding the passing of the International Day of the White Cane this coming Saturday.

So far, no one with a visual impairment has a job in our province of Cabo Delgado. We therefore desire to be a part of this social world. If we find any of our members begging today, it's because they aren't part of the social environment, she explained. (RM)
