Nyusi swears in PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STATISTICS

President Filipe Nyusi, said this
Monday that statistics must contribute
data for policy making in the country.
The head of State was speaking at the
inauguration ceremony of the president
of the National Institute of Statistics Isaltino Maria Lucas, replacing João
Loureiro. The President stressed that
statistics must always follow the
development of the country. To Nyusi
"statistics should report the behavior of
economic, social and demographic phenomena with the sole purpose of
serving their clients, providing them
with data produced, bearing in mind
the expectations of consumers." The
head of state also said that the
information provided by the National Statistics Institute is the answer to the
temporal regime of government issues.
For his part, the President of INE, Isaltina
Maria de Sales Lucas said that in
addition to disseminate the results of
the surveys made in the country, the challenge of the institution is
chronological censuses. Maria Isaltina,
occupied until the date of his
appointment, the post of Permanent
Secretary of the Ministry of Economy
and Finance, where he had been sworn in about three months. (RM)
