Nacala Airport will start receiving international traffic March 2016.According to the president of the public company Airports of Mozambique (MoS),Emanuel Chaves, the airport will receive next month,December,their certification to operate as an international airport.
With the certification,airlines operating in Mozambique will now use the Nacala Airport in 2016.
Emanuel Chaves said he had already handed over to the national authorities a request for the airport of Nacala to be the only one in the north of the country to process International flights.
"It is expected that from March the companies operating in the north of the country shall begin to use the
airport infrastructure'',said Chaves, quoted by Macauhub.
The project of transformation of the Nacala airport into an international airport will mainly involve companies carrying passengers linked to the exploitation of natural gas deposits discovered in the Rovuma basin.
