Weapons out of gorvenment control no threat to peace:Interior minister.
The Minister of the Interior, Basilio Monteiro, was yesterday quoted by Radio Mozambique as saying that weapons out of control of the Mozambican State do not represent overall threat to the country's stability.
Basilio Monteiro was reacting to a question from that station on collection of weapons in the hands of armed men of the Renamo and other unauthorized individuals.The Interior Minister stressed that anytime the Government may reach a conclusion that there is no justification to the compulsory collection of weapons, because people are to giving them up voluntarily.
According to Radio Mozambique, the Mozambican minister made these statements at the end of a session of Joint Commission of Permanent Defence and Security between Malawi and Mozambique.
The meeting,according to Basilio Monteiro,allowed for achieving consensus on the peace enviroment and for better management of state borders.
