"Mozambique will not be able to reduce poverty while the state remain weak"
Magid Osman, former finance minister of Mozambique attributed to the State a crucial role in the decision-making process and
said that Mozambique does not have a State capable of promoting the participation of society in the country's construction process.
"Today we have a political, economic crisis and, very quickly,we may have a state of crisis. We are in a limbo where we have to make the modernization of the state and we have to set the appropriate status in our society, get in society the most positive traditions and see how this modern state is linked to these traditions'',he said.
According to the economist,"We have a weak and authoritarian state which does not create space for the whole society to participate. To overcome the situation we are living,we have to create mechanisms for participation at all levels, not only within theCTA( Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique)or the social dialogue, but also at the level of rural communities.Without this,Mozambique becomes a state incapable of fighting poverty''.
But the session which discussed the theme "Humanizing the economic decisions" kicked off with the presentation by the University of Nova Lisboa's economist,Jorge Braga de Macedo,an apologist of the idea that to humanize economic decisions is to harmonize different areas of knowledge in education that combines knowledge and management.
