Terrorism in Mozambique/Municipality of Chimoio : prevention of recruitment to terrorism

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, issued a warning during his most recent trip to the province of Manica that young people were being enlisted there to bolster the terrorist ranks, which have been causing unrest in Cabo Delgado for more than five years.

Nyusi claimed that terrorists have been unsuccessful in recruiting young people into the insurgency despite their best efforts because this socioeconomic class has resisted joining forces with the underworld."They're looking to take youngsters there here in Manica" (to Cabo Delgado). However, they are facing difficulties here in Manica, according to Nyusi, who noted that the province's youth are alert and concerned.
