Refugees Detained in Mozambique Over Illegal Mining
Seven Congolese refugees have been detained in Mozambique's Zambézia province on suspicion of illegal mining.
The refugees, who possess legal documents allowing them to enter the country, were detained following reports of foreigners engaging in mining activities in the districts of Gilé and Mocuba.
The Provincial Migration Directorate, in collaboration with security forces, is investigating the matter and verifying the authenticity of the refugees' documents.
Illegal mining is a significant problem in the region, often leading to environmental damage, social unrest, and economic loss.
