Mozambique Grants Public Holiday for New Year's Eve
In a move to kickstart the New Year's celebrations, Mozambique's Minister of Labor and Social Security, Margarida Adamugi Talapa, has declared December 31 as a public holiday for all public sector employees. This announcement, made official today, ensures that government workers can partake in the festivities leading up to the New Year.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security issued a statement clarifying that while most public employees will enjoy the day off, those involved in essential services, where work cannot be paused, are excluded from this holiday. This is in line with paragraph 2 of article 3 of the Regulation on Public Holidays, which specifies that certain activities must continue without interruption.
This decision reflects Mozambique's tradition of recognizing significant cultural and festive occasions, allowing its citizens to celebrate and prepare for the New Year with their families and communities.
