Recognizing Public Opinion Can Quell Unrest: Albino Forquilha
Albino Forquilha, leader of the Optimistic Party for the Development of Mozambique (Podemos), believes that the end of the post-electoral crisis in Mozambique lies in acknowledging the popular will expressed at the ballot box. Podemos supported presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane in the October elections. Mondlane has been calling for mass demonstrations since October 21 to demand "electoral truth." Forquilha believes that the current political crisis lies in identifying the problem of democracy and electoral fraud. He calls for a forensic audit of the elections and calls for genuine dialogue between strategic players, including political parties.
