The Government of Mozambique, represented by the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and Transport and Communication, recently met with representatives of South African capital companies operating in the country.

The meeting aimed to assess the impact of economic activities given the current situation in the country, marked by a wave of vandalism against industrial and commercial establishments. On this occasion, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Silvino Moreno, highlighted that a security corridor has been established to prevent vandalism of commercial establishments, in coordination with the Defense and Security Forces.

Following the protests, South African investors in Mozambique reported significant losses, from the vandalism of their establishments to the retention of goods at the Port of Maputo. As a result, they have formed a group for risk management and mitigation due to post-election protests, which monitors operations on a daily basis. Many of these companies use the Maputo corridor and receive their products, raw materials, and finished goods via the Ressano Garcia border. The group also has the role of managing the use of the corridor.
