Mozambique is set to usher in its 10th Legislature of the National Assembly (AR) with a swearing-in ceremony on January 13, where 250 deputies will take their oath in the presence of President Filipe Nyusi at the AR headquarters. This event follows the validation of the 7th legislative election results by the Constitutional Council (CC) on December 23.

On the same day, the deputies will elect the new president of the AR, who will then be officially sworn in by Lúcia Ribeiro, the president of the CC.

The political landscape of the AR has shifted with the introduction of the Optimistic People for the Development of Mozambique (PODEMOS), gaining parliamentary representation for the first time with 43 deputies.
