The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) intelligence unit has been tasked by the Interior Ministry (MININT) to seek to halt the spread of terrorist acts to other regions of the nation.

Victor Canhemba, the permanent secretary of MININT, made the statement on Friday at the outset of the 23rd PRM Council in Cabo Delgado's Palma district headquarters.

Canhemba stated that proactive measures are required to support initiatives that can help to mitigate and combat the spread of terrorist acts to more locations.

The PRM was also tasked with developing a strategy for lowering the prevailing high incidence of road accidents, whose effects are catastrophic.
