The Mocmboa da Praia neighborhood in Cabo Delgado saw a return of almost 35,000 inhabitants.

Following terrorist attacks, more than 35,000 residents of the Mocmboa da Praia neighborhood in Cabo Delgado have already willingly returned to their homes.

The improvement in security conditions, according to the district administrator of Mocmboa da Praia, is encouraging families to return.

According to Sérgio Cipriano, a significant portion of the formerly abandoned communities are already starting to be occupied.

He cited the example of the populace return to the Mbau administrative post and other communities with more than eight administrative posts in the Mocmboa da Praia district's central and northern regions.

Mozambique:Starts a national moratorium on the harvest of surface shrimp and mangrove crab

Terrorism in Cabo Delgado: beheadings continue.

Another attack by  terrorists led to the beheading of a man at the Namogelia administrative post in the Chire Administrative Post of Cabo Delgado.


The incursion happened this Wednesday approximately 5:00 am, when the attackers set fire to a church and a number of residents' homes.

According to sources, the attack happened in a village near Bilibiza, where the terrorists entered and started firing in all directions, sending the locals into a state of panic. While the majority of the population has still not left the village, some people chose to go to other areas of the Nampula province while some elected to go to the district headquarters.

In a location close to Bilibiza, the Defense and Security Forces and villagers reportedly started pursuing the terrorists, and five of them were reportedly arrested.

Three more dead bodies, thought to have been beheaded, were discovered in the Chiure district on Wednesday, increasing the total number of fatalities in the Messanja region, Katapua Administrative Post, to four.

Sofala. The first 50 homes could be delivered to Nhamatanda's Idai victims before year's end.

The first fifty dwellings under construction will be delivered in December to individuals devastated by Cyclone Idai in the Nhamatanda district of Sofala.

The property is part of the TSUCHI foundation's thousand-house project, which has a budget of more than four billion meticais.

The initiative, which is part of the post-cyclone rehabilitation, impressed Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane, who visited the Ndeja resettlement district in Nhamatanda on Friday.

Renamo calls on the Government to respond to grievances in light of the setting of salaries based on the Single Salary Table

At a  press conference yesterday  in Maputo Renamo appealed to the Government to respond to the grievances of professional groups in setting wages in light of the Single Salary Table (TSU)

The President of the Republic and his Rwandan counterpart pop down to Maputo's Fish Market.

On Friday in the late afternoon, Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda, and Filipe Nyusi, the president of the Republic, went to the Maputo Fish Market.


The two statesmen engaged in interactions with the locals and merchants, who concurrently exhibited the variety of fish put up for sale there.

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, used the occasion to test the citizens' knowledge of the Rwandan leader and his nation's role to the fight against terrorism.


Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda, expressed his pleasure at touring the Fish Market and commended the friendship between his nation and Mozambique in return.

Mozambican Association of People: Training legislators on disability and human rights concerns

Starting this Friday, the Forum of Mozambican Association of People with Disabilities (FAMOD) will teach MPs of the Assembly of the Republic in disability and rights issues in Maputo.

According to FAMOD's executive coordinator, Clodualdo Castiano, the training stems from the ongoing process of submitting the Draft Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Mozambique to the Assembly of the Republic.

European Union allocates €28 million for aid to Mozambique


 

Mozambique will receive €28 million from the European Union (EU) to mitigate food insecurity and for emergency aid. Of this amount, €20 million will fund programmes to sustainably increase food security and resilience with the balance for emergency food aid

This is part of the €600 million that the European Commission has allocated to the European 
Development Fund to finance immediate humanitarian food assistance, food production, and resilience of food systems in the most vulnerable African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. 

This support, according to a European Union press release sent to AIM, will help partner countries and vulnerable people cope with the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, specifically the current food crisis and economic shock. 

“The EU’s swift and comprehensive response to the current food insecurity in several vulnerable partner countries of the African, Caribbean and Pacific area demonstrates our strong solidarity towards our partners, in particular in Africa”, said Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen.

COVID-19 claims two more lives in M

As of October 25 Mozambique has had two deaths from COVID-19, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health,  two male  Mozambican nationalities  aged between 76 and 46 years.

Regarding the number of new infections, 30 individuals tested positive for COVID-19, of which 23 are of Mozambican nationality, one foreigner and six of nationalities yet to be verified.

MISAU data also indicate that the city of Maputo led the list with 17 cases, corresponding to 56.7%, followed by Tete province with eight cases, equivalent to 26.7% and five cases were diagnosed in the provinces of Inhambane, Sofala , Manica, Nampula and Niassa, corresponding to 3.3% per province.

The positivity rate,  is 2.74%, while the accumulated positivity rate is 12.91%.

Mozambique has, cumulatively, 70,636 positive cases registered, of which 70,320 are locally transmitted and 316 are from abroad.

From Monday to Tuesday, the country recorded 17 fully recovered instances of COVID-19, bringing the cumulative to 69,117.

During the same period, there was a new admission and a hospital discharge.

 In the country, so far, there is a cumulative of 3,420 hospitalized patients, of which 16 are currently in COVID-19 inpatient centers and other hospital units.

Thus, there are currently 682 known active cases of COVID-19 in Mozambique.

"There are sufficient medicines to treat ailments throughout the rainy season." - Health Minister

The country has enough medications to treat illnesses during the current wet season, according to Minister of Health Armindo Tiago.

This past Wednesday, Armindo Tiago spoke in Tete and stressed the importance of initiating preventive measures  of waterborne illnesses.

"We are adequately stocked and prepared for the upcoming months, with a focus on waterborne infections that are on the rise during this wet season. Our plea is to ensure that the appropriate precautions are taken to save individuals from becoming ill, not to wait until they are ill before providing them with treatment, the man stated (RM)

Mozambican Writer Paulina Chiziane awarded an Honorary doctorate

Paulina Chiziane, a writer, has been given an Honorary doctorate  by the Pedagogical University of Maputo (UP Maputo).

According to a statement from this university, the title is given in recognition, appreciation, and reward for the author's work in research, production, literary, cultural, and anthropological publication, as well as other accomplishments geared toward the advancement of academics and civic engagement throughout the nation and the world.

More than 100,000 people in Manica could be affected by floods and inudations this rainy season

During the current rainy season, flooding and/or inundations could threaten more than 100,000 people living in areas that are traversed by the Zambezi, Bzi, and Save basins in the province of Manica.

The National Institute for Disaster Risk Management's representative in Manica, Borges Viagem, declared that logistics have been prepared owing to the availability of boats and tents for temporary shelter and relief.

USAID provides 682 million meticais to support student retention programs in Zambézia and Nampula schools.

The Student Retention Program in Schools in the Provinces of Zambézia and Nampula will be funded with more than 9.5 million dollars, or 682 million meticais, by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Civil Society Education and Learning and Training Center, or CESC, will run the program, which will engage kids and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 19.

Inocêncio Manjuel, the deputy national director of the CESC's AGE Program, spoke on Tuesday in the Milange region and explained that the program has a five-year term and also seeks to enhance students' pedagogical performance.

Some beneficiaries  expressed satisfaction with the support they will get to complete their studies.

Inhambane. For the festive season, Vilankulo is expecting more than 60,000 visitors

During the next festive season, more than 60,000 tourists will travel to the Vilankulo district.

At many resorts in the city and district of Vilankulo, both domestic and foreign tourists have already made reservations.

Visitors from neighboring South Africa, Zimbabwe, Europe, and North America stand out among international visitors.

Communities and managers from Açucareira de Xinavane meet to discuss potential remedies for suspected land usurpation.

This Wednesday, managers of Açucareira de Xinavane and representatives of the nearby villages will meet in Maputo province to discuss ways to address the business' alleged land usurpation.

The Chief Executive of the Province shall mediate discussions between the community and the owner of the sugar production enterprise.

Aida Suleimane, the provincial director of Maputo's Territorial Development and Environment and a member of the mediation team, says she anticipates agreement.

"We began a project earlier that involved sensitizing the parties to look for new regions. Our goal is to meet the requirements of our population while also supporting the business so that it can continue to operate and provide jobs for the nearby areas, according to him. (RM)

Nampula:Church arrested for act of instigating civil disobedience

Church leader in Nampula  detained and charged with inciting public unrest.

The head of a church in the Rapale neighborhood was arrested this week by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Nampula after being charged with inciting public disorder.

The person is charged with spreading messages during services that forbade communities from studying and from contacting state institutions in the event of problems.

According to Zacarias Nacute, the PRM's spokesman in Nampula, when the PRM learned about the issue, it went to the church to convince the pastor to stop spreading messages encouraging public disruption.

Nacute claims that after being dissatisfied, the adherents proceeded to the police station to protest the decision, which is why the organization imprisoned the said church leader.

Well collapse kills a man in Beira

A man got buried whilst excavating a well in the city of Beira, Sofala.

The 34-year-old victim was about five meters deep, attempting to fix the excavating equipment, when the catastrophe struck.

The deceased's body was recovered from the well by the National Service for Public Safety (SENSAP) after a five-hour operation.

 Fernando Farias, the corporation's representative, emphasizes the importance of taking precautions when excavating wells. (RM)
